Stairway Treads in Fort Myers |
Stairway treads are probably one of the most functional components to your staircase. Without your steps, it would not be a staircase. Stairway tread material needs to be durable, but can still be beautiful. When choosing tread materials, you need to take into consideration flooring material, other woods being used in the home, and whether or not your stair is going to have a carpet runner. The normal thickness of a wood tread is 1", but other thicknesses are available if the design requires. Treads have an overhang of an average 1.25". This is required by building code when stair treads are less than 11" in depth, not including the overhang. If your staircase has stone treads, the same requirements for nosings pertain.
When Florida Stairworks designs a staircase for stone tread use, we are able to provide you with layout drawings for your stone vendor. If the treads are of circular nature, we can provide CAD drawings for your stone cutter.
Some staircases are just going to be carpet covered from wall to wall. In those cases, we can provide you with less costly tread material for carpet covering. Whatever your tread needs are, we can provide you with the correct tread for your project.
