Painted staircases refer to a traditional style of what is referred to in the stair industry as a split-finished stair. The stringers, risers, balusters, and sometimes newels are painted, and the treads, cover moldings, and railings are constructed of a stain grade material, creating a split-finish. Florida Stairworks paint grade material products are available pre-primed. Pre-priming of paint grade wood is highly suggested as the Poplar material used in most paint grade products is softer in nature and the primer makes the wood surface more durable.
